Gimmie a break. Selecting a person based on their color and/or gender
is just as bad as not doing it. The only truly valid reason to pick
someone for a job is that they are the best person for the position. I
know of no position where skin tone matters.

Not really. When I hired, I had race as a consideration as I did gender.
However, the overwhelming criteria was background, training, experience,
etc..
