Q. Don't individuals have a constitutional
right to engage in homosexual acts?
A. No! There is no constitutional right to commit homosexual acts, regardless of what any liberal court might claim. The Constitution is the bylaws of our nation, written to carry into practical application the precepts stated in the charter of our nation, the Declaration of Independence. The United States Code Annotated includes the Declaration of Independence under the heading "The Organic Laws of the United States of America," along with the U.S. Constitution. The Declaration identifies the "Laws of Nature and of Nature's God" as the highest legal authority which the government and the people of our nation are under.1 America's founders held to the established definition of those laws as being that which is "dictated by God Himself" and "revealed law" as "found only in the Holy Scripture."2 Since homosexual acts clearly violate those eternal, immutable laws upon which our nation was founded and since they are physical acts, not simply beliefs or words, such acts are not protected by our Constitution. Hom> osexual acts, such as sodomy, were always illegal under American common law and were once rightly referred to with such words as beastly and filthy. Homosexual acts were treated as a crime from America's earliest beginnings until recent years and are still classified as a felony in a number of states, although such laws are currently not enforced. As a condition for admittance into the Union, individual states agreed to be governed by the precepts enunciated in our nation's charter; and thus they agreed to govern by laws rooted in and in accordance with the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God. Sodomy and other such sexual perversions clearly violate both God's laws of nature and His written law; therefore they are not protected by either the federal or state constitutions. Those legislators who are truly "conservative" or especially Christian should be working to recriminalize homosexual acts. After all, the purpose of the law is to punish such evil acts (1 Tim. 1:8-11, Rom.13:1-7, Ecc. 8:11).
Q. But if homosexual acts are recriminalized, won't the government be peeking
in people's windows and breaking down their doors to catch them "in the act"?
A. No, that would be unconstitutional and in violation of due process of law. The government is forbidden by Article IV of the Bill of Rights to search homes without a warrant issued by a judge for a specific reason and probable cause that a crime is being committed. Police are not allowed to enter homes even with a warrant without first knocking and announcing. The only way that a person would be charged with committing sodomy, for instance, is if the act was done in front of witnesses who reported it or if the person involved confessed his crime. Incest and child molestation are often done "in the privacy of one's own home"; but very few people would want to decriminalize those acts. The decriminalization of homosexual acts was the spark which ignited the hugely successful homosexual agenda which in turn has further vulgarized our nation; created major health care problems; placed children in greater risk; and is rapidly leading to a day when criticism or biblical preaching against homosexual acts will be > categorized and punished as "hate speech" in the United States, just as it already is in Canada and the UK.
Q. But aren't homosexuals born that way?
How can we oppose behavior which is hereditary?
A. Every unbiased scientific study done has proven that homosexuals are not "born that way," even if many homosexuals do not know when they first became interested in committing sexually perverse acts. Most serial killers do not remember when they first had thoughts of killing; most rapists do not remember exactly when they first contemplated raping; but no one suggests because of that, rapists and murderers were born that way! Just the fact that there are thousands of former homosexuals now living normal lives free from the commission of homosexual acts should discredit the "born that way" myth in the mind of any thinking person. The Word of God clearly states that persons committing homosexual acts "change the natural use into that which is against nature" (Rom. 1:26). No one was born to commit perverted sexual acts.
Q. But what is wrong with adapting a "live and let live" attitude toward the
homosexual community? After all, they are only hurting themselves, right?
A. Aside from the immorality of standing idly by as others destroy themselves, the answer to that question is still a resounding NO! Their advocates may present a different picture; but the fact is, the homosexual life is a depraved one; and depravity always begets more depravity and destruction. Consider just these few facts: Owing to the filthy practices in which they engage, the bulk of all bowel diseases in America is carried by homosexuals. They also have a higher incidence of STDs, tuberculosis, and hepatitis A and B as well as account for the vast majority of all AIDS cases. The average life expectancy for homosexuals is approximately thirty-four years shorter than the average life expectancy for married non-homosexuals. Homosexuals are three times more likely than heterosexuals to be drug and alcohol abusers.3 Although less than three percent of the population is homosexual, such individuals account for at least one-third of all child sexual molestation.4 There are many historical examples, starting > with Sodom and Gomorrah, which prove that violence is woven into the fabric of the homosexual culture. For instance, a vastly disproportionate number of American mass murderers, excluding abortionists and terrorists, were homosexual.5 Some Nazi death camp survivors have estimated that up to twenty percent of the guards were homosexuals who raped inmates, especially boys.6 The infamous Ludwig Tiene is just one example of such a guard.7 Homosexuality is a "lifestyle" which revolves around perverted sex; and the results are obvious—obvious and dangerous to all of society, especially the young and vulnerable. Most dangerous of all, homosexual acts are forbidden by God; and any society which condones and facilitates those acts will be the object of His wrath. Regardless of what "gay theologian" revisionists claim, the Bible contains repeated commands for Christians to speak against evil, and sexual perversion is evil.8
Q. Considering all the attendant problems,
why would anyone choose to be a homosexual?
A. Being a drug dealer or a prostitute is not exactly popular, healthy, or safe; but no one tries to claim because of that, some individuals must have been born drug dealers or prostitutes! Here is how the Word of God explains why individuals engage in sinful, destructive behavior: "But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death" (James 1:14-15). Rather than make excuses for grievous immorality, we need to point homosexuals to the gospel of Jesus Christ as the way to be forgiven, set free of their sin, and saved. "If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed" (John 8:36).
Q. I am against the "special rights" homosexuals demand, but I
do not believe that homosexuals should be discriminated against.
Isn't that a proper stand on this issue?
A. No. If citizens are not allowed to discriminate in any way with regard to out-of-the-closet homosexuals, then there is no basis for denying those involved in sexual perversion the right to adopt and teach children, marry one another, be policemen or medics, serve in the armed forces, be elected officials and judges, work for you, and rent from you. It is because of the no-special-rights approach that we now have open homosexuals involved in many activities from which they should have been banned, and principled property owners and businessmen are required by law in many states to rent to and employ persons of low moral character engaged in immoral conduct which flies in the face of the deepest beliefs of the landlords and employers.9
Q. If we speak against homosexuality, what if
someone then commits violence against a homosexual?
A. Those who champion homosexuality are trying to shame into silence their opponents with the speculation that being against homosexual acts may cause a crime. Because someone may twist something right into an excuse to do something wrong must not restrain us from speaking the truth. Homosexuality is wrong, sinful behavior. Criminal violence is also wrong, sinful behavior. We should not encourage the first by caving in to unfounded threats that somehow we are causing the second. Adultery is also wrong, and sometimes injured parties take the law into their own hands and react violently. Does this mean that we should never say a negative thing about adultery?
Q. But if we speak out against homosexual acts,
couldn't we be the cause of suicide?
A. The homosexual activists demagogue the suicide issue to silence decent people from publicly stating their beliefs. Any group of people involved in immoral, reckless behavior, such as drug use or drunkenness, adultery or prostitution, always have a higher suicide rate than those who live morally. Should we then stop speaking out against all evil behaviors? Certainly young people involved in committing homosexual acts are at first troubled in their consciences; and when they are told by the older "gay activist" that they were born to commit those acts, they may well despair and take their own lives, thinking that they have no other way out. By contrast, the Christian who shares the gospel with young people involved in sexual perversion gives them a way to not only be freed from that way of life and have a clear conscience but to also be forgiven and adopted into the family of God. In this, the Christian offers life and hope while the "gay activist" offers only death and despair. It is the homosexual advoca> tes, teachers, and leaders who are causing suicide, not Christians standing up for the Word of God.
No matter if you are a homosexual or not, if you have not repented of your sins and put all your trust in Jesus Christ for salvation and right standing with God, you are headed for eternal damnation when you die. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me" (John 14:6). He commanded, "Repent ye, and believe the gospel" (Mark 1:15). Because every person has "sinned, and come short of the glory of God" (Rom. 3:23), every person stands condemned as a lawbreaker before God. The Bible says, "It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment" (Heb. 9:27). How will you answer to God for your sins on judgment day? You cannot work them off. "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast" (Eph. 2:8-9). You cannot expect the perfect Holy Judge to simply let you walk away from justice, and He will not. The Bible warns that all sinners are sentenced to hell. Hell is a per> fect picture of God's perfect hatred of sin. The Bible says that it is a place of weeping and gnashing of teeth, a place of outer darkness and unquenchable fire (Matt. 8:12, Mark 9:46), and those sent there are punished forever. The Bible also tells us, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life" (John 3:16). Jesus Christ, God the Son, "was made in the likeness of men" (Phil. 2:7) while remaining the Son of God. He lived a perfect life on earth and offered up that perfect life as a sin offering once for all on the cross. "But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God" (Heb. 10:12). Jesus was raised from the dead by the power of God and, in this, not only defeated sin but also death. Most importantly, by shedding His perfect blood, He paid for the sins and cancelled the sentence of all those who will ask to be forgiven of their sin and put all their faith > in Him for salvation. If you want to be saved and spared eternal judgment, you must truly repent of your sins, believe the gospel, and put all your trust for salvation in the Lord Jesus Christ (Rom. 10:9-10). "For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succored thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation" (2 Cor. 6:2).
