Being armed wouldn't give you a chance in the scenario presented.

close calls.
You're best "weapon" against terrorists is to be smart and alert.
I never had a gun because A GUN CREATES MORE PROBLEMS THAN IT SOLVES.
HERE IS A REAL-CASE SCENARIO: (and this is a VERY realistic example
-- not a "24" scenario)
You want to move around as inconspicuously as possible because, if a
radical spots you, he'll cell-phones his buddies to nab you on the
way out of the restaurant (or where ever.)
Then, your gun sets off the metal detectors (which are EVERYWHERE in
terrorist prone countries) and instead of a few people noticing you,
a FEW HUNDRED people notice the white guy causing a ruckus because of
his handgun.

I'm not ever likely to live in a terrorist-prone country.  And I'm not
likely to set off any metal detectors in the US, since I know where
they are.
But according to your scenario, a small pocket knife will get you
killed by terrorists, since that will also set off all those metal
detectors.
Tell us all.  Do the Israelis have concealed guns?  If so, why don't
they leave them at home, since, according to you, they would all be
safer?

As I said, the radical notices you, and calls his buddies. He even
has MORE time to gather, since you are delayed at the entrance.
The terrorists watch you leave the restaurant and follow you on
motorcycles. You're stuck in traffic, pinned-in at a red light and
they pull up on your left, your right, in front and behind you with
automatic weapons pointed right at your head.
At what point did your hand gun help you?
MAYBE you could have got a shot off through the glass of your car
sending the bullet goodness-knows-where.  MAYBE (but not likely) you
could kill ONE terrorist. BIG WHOOP! The other seven mow you down and
the eighth guy gets to be a martyr, which he was hoping for, anyway.)
Once you are targeted by terrorists, your best chance of living is
hoping that your company pays the ransom.
My point is that A HANDGUN CAN _NOT_ HELP YOU AGAINST TERRORISTS but
surely MAKES THINGS WORSE.

I could come up with DOZENS of realistic scenarios where a hand-gun
DOES NOT HELP YOU but would have to take LEAPS OF FANCY to think of
cases where a gun would help you. Remember, in every realistic
scenario, you've got heavily armed, multiple guys surrounding you at
a moment of inattention or weakness.)

BTW, I am NOT anti-gun. I just think GUNS should be registered and
insured. Gun OWNERS should be tested and licensed.  This is just like
cars and driving and I'm not anti-car either.

While driving a car should be a civil right, it isn't.  Therefore, all
the states will license both you and the car.
But the Right to Keep and Bear Arms is an innate right of free
Americans granted to us by the Creator - a right which apologists like
you would like to see curtailed.

Municipalities from curtailing your right to possess firearms, Just the
Federal government. You're Dumb as dirt!

The Second Amendment does NOT grant the right; it only protects it from
the fedgov. The RKBA pre-dates the Constitution by quite a number of
years, since it protects free Americans in their "...Life, Liberty, and
the Pursuit of Happiness..."

BTW, are you going to cite your nightmare scenario, which you claim is
factual, or are you just going to sling Ad Hominems?

The Supreme Court in US v Presser does. Before you refer to people as
dumb, you should learn a little more.
