...was apparently off by as much as iBiquity's
Oh, are you one of the few that didn't understand that the first roll out
was a test-phase, and that more power would be needed down the road?
"A Station Owner's View of HD Radio Industry"

"We were told back in the beginning that the HD coverage would be
equal to the analog signal. Unfortunately, the industry is now finding
out this is not the case... We've also found that even in a strong HD
signal area, a dipole antenna is required... We were also told that
the HD would lessen interference with adjacent channel signals. That
also appears not to be the case. This is really very discouraging and
is leading us to wonder why we should bother to promote HD. To do so
will only disappoint, and, perhaps, antagonize a significant segment
of the audience who finds that the system doesn't deliver."

Is that why iBquity initially lied to broadcasters, to get more money
for Harris, who is an iNiquity investor?

I think that there were _very_ few broadcast engineers that were not
aware that the 1% power was not the level at which HD would operate at
indefinitely. iBiquity made no secret of the fact that the 1% was not
going to be the level indefinitely.

Maybe, stations will give their gear away free to some of the
Usually when a station is ready to dispose of equipment, it moves down the
chain to smaller stations and smaller markets.
This is probably how the smaller stations will upgrade to HD!
LOL!

As you know, they are not refurbs in the sense that they were broken
and "refurbed." Rather, they were returned by pissed off customers and
can't be sold as new.
I figure when the market folds, they will blow them out on ubid.
Iv'e read that the return rate on HD radios is extremely high, so
unsold/returned HD radios must be piling up some where...
You've read from one of your reliable sources?  Is that another anonymous
message board?  LOL
- that's why
Struble always talks about the "number of HD chipsets shipped"
Because that's the business he's in.  His product is contained in the chip!
LMAO!
I've done chips for consumer products. There is no problem selling a
few hundred K just to stock the distribution channel. Selling chips
does not equate to selling product.
