You have already agreed that a moving clock runs slow in an inertial frame.
Since it runs slow, it will have a lower reading than a clock at rest in
that
frame when the two unite.
Only if initially (after the acceleration) they showed the same time in
each others frames. They don't .. the acceleration puts them out of sync.
